What Happened?
Something happened to a vacuum pump in a hospital. Can you figure out what happened, and what caused this situation?
Cushions on the Floor
Is the argument that this is furniture and can be placed in the corridor, even though it’s being hung on a wall, acceptable from a code standpoint?
Patient Isolation Rooms
In regards to negative pressure for patient isolation rooms, I understand that the negative pressure has to be verified before you can place a patient in the room but is there a testing frequency standard out there other than the room should be maintained as designed?
Electrical Receptacle Testing
What are the requirements for testing electrical outlets in nursing home patient rooms?
ILSM for Fire Alarm Testing?
Recently, I have been instructed to fill out an Interim Life Safety Measure (ILSM) assessment each month when conducting fire alarm system testing with our contractor.
Fire Alarm Pull Stations
I cannot find any code stating what, if any, clearance you need around a fire alarm pull station on the actual wall. We need to mount a nurse call monitor on a wall and don't want to infringe on the pull station if there is such a code.
Risk Assessment for 20% Humidity
Since CMS has adopted NFPA 99-2012 edition, is it necessary to do the risk assessment in order to maintain RH levels in ORs > to 20%.
Fire Drill Observers
One of our AHJs is looking for verification that all hospital personnel participates in fire drills, not just in the vicinity of the system activation.
Fire Drill Timing
Has a clarification been issued for what “varying conditions” means in 2012 edition of the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 19.7.1.6?
Business Occupancy Corridor Doors
If a lower level of a hospital is declared business occupancy, can their doors be propped open with books and wastebaskets?
The Joint Commission to resume on-site surveys
Effective March 15, The Joint Commission will be resuming usual procedures, including unannounced survey team visits.
Sliding Barn Door
My question is do we have to use a standard hospital type 20 door for the dressing room or can it be a hollow core wood door?
