Storage of Partially Full Cylinders

Q: Is it permitted to allow full and partially-full oxygen cylinders to be stored together?

A: NFPA does not specifically address this issue, although section 11.6.5 of NFPA 99-2012 says empty cylinders must be segregated from full cylinders. Unfortunately, NFPA 99-2012 does not address specifically where to store partially full cylinders. Some accreditation organizations have specific standards on where to store partially full cylinders. I do know Joint Commission used to say partially full cylinders need to be stored with the empties. But then they changed their mind and I heard them say partially full cylinders need to be stored with full cylinders.

Rather than taking my word for it, I suggest you contact your accreditation organization directly and ask them.
